Yesterday was the day that myself and two colleagues, Louise Morgan and Chris Walters donned our jump suits and allowed ourselves to be pushed out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet! It was the most amazing experience and we all left with huge grins on our faces, the weather was fantastic and the views were incredible and knowing that we have raised £1,315.00 (so far) for our chosen charity of the year Step by Step, made the experience even more incredible.

After being advised by his Doctor not to part take in the London marathon our South East Business Development Manager, Ollie Jackson, took to the streets on Sunday with thousands of other determined runners to raise money for his chosen Charity, The Stroke Association.
Ollie managed to complete the 26 miles in 5 hours 58 minutes.

In most areas of the South East of England we are in desperate need of rain with penalties enforced for using hosepipes since April 5th, after one of the driest two-year periods on record, yet with April showers inevitable for the next few weeks the prospect of rain is now perceived to be more of a danger than a blessing.
According to the Environment Agency ‘dry, compacted soils’ absorb water less easily and with future storms on the horizon it looks as though flash flooding will occur.
Presently the majority of the east of the country, from the Humber to Kent, is in drought. The
Telegraph advises that four months of sustained rainfall will be required to refill reservoirs and rivers; which are now lower than they were in 1976!

The nominees for the Barbon BOSCAs attended a star studded night at Madam Tussauds on Friday where they were treated to a fabulous night of glitz and glamour and the chance to hang out with the Hollywood lovelies (albeit they were wax!) The night held a variety of entertainment starting off with a private tour, followed by a 4D film experience, a champagne reception and then a three course dinner with live acts from our Barbon’s Got Talent entrants, followed by the Awards ceremony.
We are very pleased to congratulate:
- Winner of People – Caroline Dixon of Keelan Westall
- Winner of Internet – Jim Porter of Barbon Insurance Group Bordon
- Winner of Bronze Service Medal – Ollie Jackson of Keelan Westall
- Winner of The Pride of Barbon – Keelan Westall for the difference they had made to Step by Step charity (approx £11,900 raised).
A great night was had by all and we can’t wait for next year!

BBC Surrey interviewed our very own Vanessa Riddles HR Advisor for Barbon Insurance Group this morning on Keelan Westall’s charity work for Step By Step.
Vanessa attended an early morning interview where she was questioned on charity work planned for next year and the very successful sleep out at Aldershot Football Ground which Vanessa was part of in the Summer with colleagues, Tanya Le Warne, HR Manager and Louise Morgon, HR Administrator.
We have lots of exciting plans for next year to continue to support Step by Step.
To date Keelan Westall have raised an astounding £11,383.42.
